3 Signs It's Time For Change In Your Life

Often when we get into adult life (motherhood, real jobs, bills, chores, houses, and booking and maintaining everything from the car to the dentist to the vacations) life can end up feeling like we’re just a cog in a machine that we have no idea how we got caught up in and have no control over. 

And that sucks. 

It feels draining and boring and exhausting and frustrating, and we can EASILY end up bitter and resentful and confused as to what in the actual F happened to the version of ourselves that had a motorbike and leather pants and had sex because we felt like it. 

I can’t tell you how many of my clients come to work with me about eating better but spend 6 months unlearning putting themselves last, and rebuilding relationships with themselves and their family so they don’t hate their lives and end up eating and drinking and trying to numb how unsatisfied they are. 

And I get it because it’s what got me started on this path to begin with!

But here’s what I want you to know for sure, staying in this flywheel is a choice…

The TOP 3 SIGNS YOU NEED A MIDLIFE REBOOT ARE: 


1/ YOU FEEL LIKE SHIT

This can include physically feeling like garbage and unhealthy, feeling uncomfortable in your body, or being at a weight you don’t good at. 

It can be that emotionally or mentally you feel like crap.

Maybe you can’t remember where you left your keys, you’re crying and losing it constantly, or you feel like you have a thick wet blanket over your brain. 

Or maybe you’re always in a mood or anxious, overwhelmed, or feel depressed. 

Maybe you feel like you’re stuck and like you’ve stopped caring about things that you normally care a lot about. You just don’t have the energy.

These are all SIGNS and indications that you need to change. 

If you’re out there normalising feeling like hot garbage, you’re out there selling yourself, and the next chapter of your life, short AF! 

AND everyone in your life as well, because they’re missing out on you being your best self and feeling happy and actually enjoying time with them and connecting and being present with them. 

Because the truth is, it is hard to get after life if you feel like crap. 

These things are signs that it is TIME to reboot your amazing body, and do you know what is the coolest thing? 

Your body is ready and waiting to feel fantastic. 

She’s been sitting in the garage this entire time just waiting for you to pull the dust sheet off and start giving her some much needed attention and love and appreciation, and the appropriate fuel. 


2/ YOU’RE BORED, DISSATISFIED, UNFULFILLED OR JUST NOT ENJOYING THE LIFE YOU’VE CREATED.

This is when your life is fine. When everything is just… fine. You go about your business day in and day out, just doing the things.  It’s all predictable, it’s all fine. 

You feel like your future stretches out ahead of you like an endless prairie field. It’s all the same colour and there’s not a peak, or even a valley to be seen. Everything is just the same. 

It’s fine. 

Maybe the highlight of your week or day is to have a glass or 3 or wine, eat something that sets your taste buds on fire in delight, but your body on fire in discomfort, and zone out on some quality screen time. 

Maybe you can’t really remember you felt really excited about anything, or scared, or nervous, or unsure, or confused, or challenged… 

You go through your days ticking the boxes and taking care of business. 

Possibly things that USED to feel fun and interesting are just part of the beige fabric of your life now. 

(I don’t have anything against beige! But you get it right?)

If any of this sounds familiar, there’s a good chance you’re not accessing your full potential. 

Your life will not get more fulfilling if you don’t make some shit happen, or change how you’re thinking about your current situation, or push yourself out of your comfort zone. 

It just won’t. 


3/ YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES

Clearly this one is the most tricky because it’s usually pretty complicated to just pick up and move or run away from home or whatever. RIght? 

This one often comes up when people feel trapped or like they’re living someone else’s dream or plan for them. Like they’re not in control of their life, and it can OFTEN be the result of number 1 and number 2 combining with the thoughts that we can’t do anything about it. 

Circumstances are harder to just change, especially when you have a family and kids and a job and a house and a spouse, and all the things that we think we need to be part of this highly functioning world. 

But just like we’re trying to teach our kids right now, thinking we have no other options is a “fixed mindset” that can be changed by doing work on number 1 and number 2 and some GROWTH MINDSET work. 

Ok? 

You can start right where you are and commit to a few small goals that will make your life better.

Seriously, what are some things that if you started TODAY would make your life better on a daily basis?

Here’s what happens: when you feel better mentally, physically and/or emotionally, you will have more energy to try new things that make you feel like a weirdo. 

And when you start to live a little bit more into your weird self and not your robot self, you will start seeing the world from a different perspective. 

You will see possibilities instead of an endless sea of beige. 

You will build courage and confidence the more you show up for yourself and for your health and for your dreams. 

And when you do this, your circumstances will change.
